Act 4
Sail to Kingsmarch in search of an ancient weapon to battle corruption; the instrument of the Third Edict. The islands of Ngamakanui, are steeped in the lore of the Karui, so keep an eye out for the ancestral deities as you travel to each. The act is made up of a series of smaller locations each with its own unique biome, foes and story. On one you might find a group of goblins worshipping a local giant, whereas another might contain a horror sealed away for the ages.
Kingsmarch 

NPCs: Doryani; The Hooded One; Alva; Rog; Tujen; Ange; Dannig; Makoru; Kanu
Kingsmarch is the first town in Act 4.
- Dannig: Sells Weapons, Body Armours, Helms, Gloves, Boots, Shields, Quivers & Belts.
- Rog: Sells Sceptres, ES Shields, Wands, Staves, Life Flasks, Mana Flasks, Wisdom Scrolls, Rings, Amulets & Charms. Rog can also Disenchant Magic Items & Rare Items for Transmutation or Regal Shards.
- Tujen: allows you to Gamble Gold for Items of an unknown rarity.
- Ange: Unlocks Asynchronous Trading, Hideout Selection and provides access to the Currency Exchange.
- Makoru: Facilitates sailing to various islands surrounding Kingsmarch.
Speak to Doryani, Alva, Rog, Tujen and Ange. Then head down the dock towards the moored ship and speak to Kanu and Makoru. Sprint back up the dock and take the Boat Charter from Rog. Then sprint down the docks once more, and speak to Makoru to set sail to an island of your choosing.
Optionally, consider sailing towards the following islands before beginning your progression for potential gear upgrades:
- Arastas: Speak to Servitor Marius for a Caster Shop.
- Ngakanu: Speak to Ruhaki for a Blacksmith Shop.
Non-Linear Act Act 4 is non-linear, allowing you to complete the act in any order you'd like. The zone order listed below is only a suggestion; based on an evaluation of quest rewards and boss difficulty.
Isle of Kin 
- Boss: The Blind Beast (Optional: 2 Weapon Set Passive Skill Points)
- Quests: The Search, Land of the Kin, Forgotten Bounty (Optional)
- Points of Interest: Beast Pen, Fossilised Formation, Flayed Sailor, Voltaxic Spire
The Isle of Kin is a sulphite quarry inhabited by large packs of swarming Kin and their subdued behemoths. The primary quest objective is to search for the Volcanic Warrens; to investigate what has riled the Kin up and search for lost Weapon Pieces.
Additionally, there is one optional unique boss, one optional quest objective, and 3 secrets to consider:
- The Blind Beast: is an aggressive physical and lightning damage boss that provides 2 Weapon Set Passive Skill Points if defeated.
- Beast Pen: contains a rare beast that drops an Uncut Support Gem Level 4.
- Fossilised Formation: contains a
Lesser Jeweller's Orb.
- Voltaxic Spire: Provides the Sulphite Infusion buff, increasing your movement speed, elemental resistance and damage until you leave the zone.
- Flayed Sailor: along the shores you find the body of a sailor, which drops a Torn Map Piece. Used to complete the optional Forgotten Bounty quest.
Volcanic Warrens 
- Bosses: Krutog, Lord of Kin
- Quests: The Search, Land of the Kin
- Points of Interest: Volcanic Nest
The Volcanic Warrens is a vast volcanic cavern packed with Kin, behemoths, molten imps and volcanic golems. Search the caverns for the throne room, host to Krutog, Lord of Kin, a physical and lightning themed boss.
Defeat Krutog and free Matiki from their cage. Return to town and speak to them once more on the boat, to unlock a new island, the Eye of Hinekora. The Eye of Hinekora is host to numerous rewards but includes a difficult boss fight. Thus, before sailing to the Eye of Hinekora, travel to Kedge Bay, to maximise character power in advance.
Note: While clearing this zone you may encounter the Volcanic Nest Secret, housing two rare Volcanic Golems. Each dropping a Magic or Rare Ring on death.
Kedge Bay 
- Quests: The Search, Dark Mists, Forgotten Bounty (Optional)
- Points of Interest: Abandoned Ship, Dead Man's Chest
Kedge Bay is a shipwrecked strand, home to shrieking gulls, drowned crawlers, and sea-rotted skeletal sailors. Progress ahead to Journey's End, in search of additional Weapon Pieces.
While clearing this zone you may find:
- Dead Man's Chest: contains a second Torn Map Piece, used to complete the optional Forgotten Bounty quest.
- Abandoned Ship Secret: contains a chest that drops a guaranteed
Lesser Jeweller's Orb.
Journey's End 
- NPCs: Tujen, Freya Hartlin
- Bosses: Captain Hartlin
- Quests: The Search, Dark Mists
Journey's End is another debris filled strand, teeming with undead explorers, ghostly creatures, and rotting soul-catchers. Upon entering the area, you encounter a trapped Freya Hartlin, who Tujen dearly wants to rescue. Summon and speak to Tujen, to gain your next objective: a quest to search for and defeat Captain Hartlin, a physical and cold themed boss.
After defeating Captain Hartlin, loot the Verisium, return to town and speak to Dannig to acquire Verisium Spikes. Return to Journey's End and interact with the Karui Totem's to free Freya Hartlin.
Surprise! Freya Hartlin is actually Omniphobia, Fear Manifest. Survive the madness, defeat Omniphobia, Fear Manifest, return to town and speak to Tujen for an Uncut Skill Gem Level 13.
Abandoned Prison 
- Quests: The Search, Abandoned Prison
- Points of Interest: The Chapel, The Armoury
The Abandoned Prison is is a time-worn penitentiary, haunted by spined necromancers, risen rattler's, eaten rats, eternal prisoners, eternal guards, and more. Search the zone for Solitary Confinement, to discover the darkness within.
While progressing you may find a Chapel Key, which can be used to enter the Chapel. Clear the enemies and interact with the Goddess of Justice for a choice between:
- 30% increased Life Recovery from Flasks
- 30% increased Mana Recovery from Flasks
If you would like to change your choice, you can always return to the Goddess and select a different option.
Additionally, you may find The Armoury Secret. A locked room full of gear, hidden in riot armaments. Simply interact with the nearby lever to enter and claim your potential rewards.
Solitary Confinement 
- Bosses: The Prisoner
- Quests: The Search, Abandoned Prison
Solitary Confinement is built below the Abandoned Prison, and has been significantly water-damaged after centuries of neglect. So much so, that periodic waves of sea water submerge the prison floors, significantly lowering your movement speed.
Search for and defeat The Prisoner, a physical and cold themed boss, with a unique regenerative ability. At 50%, 25% and 10% HP, the Prisoner becomes staggered and immune to damage, after a short delay they begin to heal. Interact with a ballista on the edge of the arena and shoot the Prisoner with a piercing bolt to counter this regeneration. Note that after each ballista fired, the Prisoner gains new abilities.
After defeating The Prisoner, speak to The Hooded One and return to town.
Eye of Hinekora 
- NPCs: Matiki, Navali
- Quests: Trial of the Ancestors
- Points of Interest: The Silent Hall
After previously freeing Matiki from Krutog, Lord of Kin in the Volcanic Warrens, the Karui Elder guides your ship to the Eye of Hinekora, a proving grounds to enter the Halls of the Dead.
Speak to Matiki and Navali, and peer into the Well of Passing, to seek approval from the Hinekora, to enter the proving grounds.
With Hinekora's approval, your character is temporarily dead, but held in the Mother of Death's embrace, allowing you to pass into the spirit realm. Progress ahead and complete the following tests to enter the Halls of the Dead:
- Kaom's Test of Mettle
- Maata's Test of Mettle
- Rakiata's Test of Mettle
After completing each test, near the end of the zone, search for the Silent Hall Secret, hidden behind a checkpoint. Explore the Silent Hall and pay your respects to receive a permanent +5% to Maximum Mana buff.
Halls of the Dead 
- NPCs: Navali
- Bosses: Yama The White (2 Weapon Set Passive Skill Points)
- Quests: Trial of the Ancestors
- Points of Interest: Tasalio's Test, Ngamahu's Test, Tawhoa's Test
The Halls of the Dead is an ancestral proving ground, where the greatest warriors of the past battle endlessly. Explore the Halls for Yama The White, a physical and chaos themed boss.
While exploring, you may find additional Tests of Strength. Completing each test provides a Blank Tattoo which can be exchanged for a specific attribute or resist tattoo:
- Tawhoa's Test: +5 Dexterity or +5% Lightning Resist
- Tasalio's Test: +5 Intelligence or +5% Cold Resist
- Ngamahu's Test: +5 Strength or +5% Fire Resist
Warning: consuming a Tattoo is a permanent choice that cannot be changed later on!
After completing each Test of Strength, progress to the end of the zone to find the entrance to the Trial of the Ancestors's. However, once more you must prove your worth by defeating Yama The White.
After defeating Yama The White, loot the Silver Coin and enter the Trial of the Ancestors. Speak to Navali at the top of the trial for 2 Weapon Set Passive Skill Points. Then return to town and sail to the next island.
Whakapanu Island 
- Bosses: Great White One (Optional)
- Quests: The Search, Whakapanu Island, Tribal Medicine (Optional), Forgotten Bounty (Optional)
- Points of Interest: Sharkpit, Crabshell Cavern, Petrified Pirate
Whakapanu Island is an undisturbed paradise, inhabited by thriving coconut crabs, scorpion monkey's, towering elephant tortoise and more. Search the island for an entrance to the Singing Caverns.
While exploring the island you may encounter the following bosses or points of interest:
- Crabshell Cavern: Home to a large overgrown rare crab, which drops an Uncut Support Gem Level 4.
- Petrified Pirate: drops another Torn Map Piece. Used to complete the optional Forgotten Bounty quest.
- Great White One: a large overgrown Shark, located at the Shark Pit, that when defeated drops a Shark Fin. The Shark Fin can be returned to Kaimana immediately at Ngakanu island or at the end of the act in town, for a choice between the following rewards:
- Uncut Skill Gem Level 11
- Uncut Spirit Gem Level 11
- Uncut Support Gem Level 4
- Note: at the end of the act, Kaimana is found on the platform at the end of the dock, opposite of the Ship.
Singing Caverns 
- Bosses: Diamora, Song of Death
- Quests: The Search, Whakapanu Island
- Points of Interest: Beckoning Clam (Optional: Rare Pearlescent Amulet)
The Singing Caverns is an underground passage, inhabited by amphibious prowlers, ghastly sirens and other nefarious sea creatures. Search the Cavern for Diamora, Song of Death, a physical and cold themed boss.
Diamora, Song of Death is a siren, avoid her petrifying song and gaze and consider equipping a Thawing Charm before the fight.
After defeating Diamora, Song of Death, speak to The Hooded One, return to town and sail to the next island.
Optionally, while exploring the Caverns you may encounter a Beckoning Clam. Interact with the Clam, defeat the ambush and interact with the Clam once more for a Humming Pearl. Return the Humming Pearl to Rog in town for a Rare Pearlescent Amulet.
Shrike Island 
- Bosses: Scourge of the Skies
- Quests: The Search, Shrike Island, Forgotten Bounty (Optional)
- Points of Interest: Corpse Nest
Shrike Island is a vicious rite of passage for Karui; that has become deadlier with the growing corruption. Vile Vultures, ravenous shrikes, scavenged skeletons and other hungry creatures await you. Search the island for the Scourge of the Skies, a physical themed boss.
Defeat the Scourge of the Skies, speak to The Hooded One, and speak to Makoru. Then set sail to Arastas.
While scavenging the island, you may find the Corpse Nest Secret. Interact with the Corpse Nest for the fourth and final Torn Map Piece. To review, Torn Map Pieces are used to complete the optional Forgotten Bounty quest and drop from the following islands:
Returning all four Torn Map Pieces to Makoru unlocks Plunder's Point. An optional area that introduces the Expedition mechanic. Summon Dannig, place the explosives around potentially rewarding locations, explode the explosives and clear the monsters for experience and loot.
Arastas 
- NPCs: Missionary Lorandis
- Bosses: Torvian, Hand of the Saviour
- Quests: The Search
- Points of Interest: Golden Bells
Arastas is the point of operations for the Twilight Order, a peaceful enclave also in search of the Weapon. Speak to Missionary Lorandis for more information.
Surprise! You've been betrayed once more! Break the barrier, survive the ambush and search for The Excavation.
While searching for The Excavation site, near the end of the zone you can find two Golden Bells:
- The Morning Bell is located in the Town Square and provides 3
Regal Orbs.
- The Evening Bell is located at the Cliffside and provides 3
Exalted Orbs.
At the end of the zone you encounter Torvian, Hand of the Saviour, a physical and fire themed boss. Torvian is an incredibly challenging fight that can be made easier with an understanding of his Rock Toss ability. Surrounding the arena are three casters that periodically empower Torvian, most notably with damage reduction. When Torvian slams both axes into the ground, he emerges with a Rock that he tosses at the player. Position near a casters platform and dodge the Rock after it's thrown to interrupt the empowerment.
The Excavation 
- Bosses: Benedictus, First Herald of Utopia
- Quests: The Search
The Excavation Site is swarming with the most zealous members of the Twilight Order and is host to Benedictus, First Herald of Utopia a physical, fire and lightning themed boss.
Search for and defeat Benedictus, First Herald of Utopia. Timely dodge rolls and specific understanding of his Earthen Maze mechanics are key.
After defeating Benedictus, First Herald of Utopia, follow Tavakai and Makoru to the Weapon. Upon arrival, The Hooded One joins you and attempts to reforge the Weapon.
Unsurprisingly, you've been betrayed again! This time by Tavakai who wishes to use the Weapon to save his people. Can you trust anyone at this point?
Speak to The Hooded One, return to town, speak to The Hooded One once more, and then to Rhodri to set sail to Ngakanu.
Ngakanu 
- Quests: The Search
Ngakanu is home to the Tukohama Tribe, however, the tribe members are enraged with blood-fevered fury, attacking anyone and everyone on site. Battle your way through the village, in search of the Heart of the Tribe.
Heart of the Tribe 
- Bosses: Tavakai, the Chieftain
- Quests: The Search
- Points of Interest: Meeting House
The Heart of the Tribe embodies the same blood-fevered rage found in Ngakanu. Search the area for Tavakai, the Chieftain, the boss of Act 4.
While exploring the area, you may find the Meeting House Secret, a room outlined with chests full of loot. Consider making any final upgrades at this point before confronting Tavakai, the Chieftain.
Tavakai, the Chieftain is a multi-phase, physical, fire, cold and lightning themed boss. Precise dodge rolls, positioning and life recovery are key to defeating Tavakai, the Chieftain.
After defeating Tavakai, the Chieftain, witness The Hooded One curing both Tavakai and Makoru. Then speak to Tavakai, return to Kingsmarch, and speak to The Hooded One.
